About the Author

Hattie (Hat to friends) recently graduated from Truman State University with a BA in Sociology/Anthropology and Spanish in December 2024. She hopes to continue onto grad school to pursue a PhD in Evolutionary or Biological Anthropology. Hattie wants to study social behavior in great apes to create a better picture of early human social behavior. She was an intern at Project Chimps (much love!!) and some of the chimps she worked with can be seen on this website.

With graduate school and a few job applications underway, she created this blog on a 1 am whim to express some of her thoughts, interests, and whatever else comes to mind. This was mostly created to deal with the fact she can’t rant to her friends as easily now that she’s not constantly on campus… 🙁

Friends and family are highly encouraged to read and comment on posts but be forewarned, the author is 21 and topics discussed here will be mature ones. This blog will cover a wide range of topics in a hopefully critical and easily understandable way. That being said, continue at your own risk.

Anthropology Lover

As an anthropologist with a passion for studying human and non-human cultures and societies, Hattie loves exploring and learning new things in any area of anthropology. She has conducted extensive research about trends in global animal domestication and the environment. She also has experience working with and observing chimpanzees.

Primatology Beginner

Primatology is fairly new to Hattie but she pursues it nonetheless. She plans to dedicate her career to studying primate social behavior in their natural habitats and how each aspect is shaped by their ecological niche. She can’t wait to develop a deep understanding of primate behavior and published groundbreaking studies once in the field.

Book Enthusiast

Hattie is a book lover and avid reader. She enjoys exploring different genres and discovering new authors. With her extensive knowledge of mostly YA literature, she provides valuable insights and recommendations to fellow book enthusiasts as well as honest analysis. On average, Hattie reads 30-70 books a year in English and Spanish combined.

Budding Theorist

Much to the annoyance of her peers, and occasionally herself, Hattie loves theory of any type. From complex theories like dramaturgy to social deviance, she believes they’re all interesting and applicable (though not in every situation). Eventually, Hattie would like to help shape the theory of tomorrow.

Now go read and enjoy!
