Anthropology: Exploring Human Societies
Discover the fascinating world of anthropology!!!
Linguistic Anthropology
Linguistical anthropology is a field that studies how languages are used by people in any way possible. Most of these uses are usually called sociolinguistics but can come in multiple forms. Hattie would love to do more of this but she has no time (sighs).
Cultural Anthropology
Most of Hattie’s friends are cultural anthropologists. This field usually gets the most attention in anthropology and includes scientists like Franz Boas, Margaret Mead, and Zora Neal Hurston. Most cultural anthropologists write interesting books called ethnographies.
Biological Anthropology
This is the field Hattie hopes to belong to. Famous for their evolution work by anthropologists like Louis and Mary Leakey, this branch usually focuses on human evolution and the earliest of human social origins. Primatology fits onto this branch as well and is used to model early human behavior.
Archaeology
Outside of the U.S., archaeology is it’s own field, but because the the U.S. has to be different, it got made a branch of anthropology. This is basically what Indiana Jones does but ethical and not stealing artifacts from peoples around the world (at least in 2024). Hattie would love experience in this mostly for the vibes.
